Add a customised icon
Enhance your Signum smart token or staking token's identity by adding a custom icon. This guide walks you through acquiring an alias, uploading your icon to IPFS, and linking it seamlessly to your token. Learn how to manage alias settings, including avatar hash and token identification, with clear, concise steps. Small fees apply for alias creation and maintenance, ensuring your token stands out in the Signum network.
The image needs to be stored on IPFS and you should have the hash for the image/icon. Please ensure that the image is pinned, so that the icon can be loaded by the users
If the smart token gets transferred to a new owner; the new owner needs to setup a new alias, or the exisitng alias can get sold to the new owner.
- Buy an alias
- Access the Signum wallet (XT-wallet) and navigate to the alias creation page.
- Pay the small associated fee to secure your alias.
- Upload the image/icon to your IPFS provider
- Use an IPFS provider like Pinata or Infura to upload your image.
- Copy the generated IPFS hash.
- Setup the alias information
- Enter the avatar hash and token ID in the alias description field.
- Save changes and confirm
To buy an alias go to the Alias section of Signumswap (https://www.signumswap.com/alias) and type in a name for the alias you like to have as a data container for your customized icon.
The alias's name does not need to be the same as the smart token symbol. You can choose any name you like. For each smart token, you need an alias.
Click the buy button to pay the creation fee for the alias which is about 0.2 Signa. To keep the alias owned by you - a subscription will be automated created by the creation of the alias. Every three (3) months you need to pay 12.5 Signa to keep the alias owned. If you cancel the subscription or can´t pay the fee the alias will be deleted.
With the IPFS pinning provider of your choice, you upload and pin the image for the icon. You need to get an CID for the image. (Example: QmS2cj78NfkQkJiMWgppfGnTsGFjeJrovb7FTQb7XfKBPF)
After the alias is created you will see something like this under "My aliases":

With the introduction of SIP-44, we can add information in a generic way, which can be read by various applications. To add the necessary information click on More > Edit Alias. Click on the "Standard content"

A new Edit window will open :

The minimum you need to set is the Avatar (for the icon) and the Identifier which is the unique smart token-id which sets up the connection between your icon and the smart token. But we recommend to fill some more data:

The green bordered text should be the minimum you need to set. The avatar hash is checked and should you show the icon. The identifier is the unique smart token-id.
Click update and pay the fee of 0.2 Signa.
After the tx is added to the chain you should see your icon under signumswap.
The alias content is changeable; you can always adjust it!
